Photographs from Amritsar: The Golden Temple

Here are some photographs from my visits to the Sikh's Golden Temple I visited last week in Amritsar.  This was by far one of the best experiences I have had in India.  I've been trying to get more photographs up (and taken) as part of the create aim of this blog.  In addition I have created a flickr account.  I just joined, but if anyone has an account send me a friend invite.  Here is my new profile.

  1. Can you comment as to why so many people are sleeping in the golden temple?

  2. Great photos! Field Studies is going to have to steal some of your faces again this year.

Amritsar is one of my favorite places to visit in India. Other than being so hot, I love pretty much everything about it. Sikhism, softy ice cream cones, and pretty much the best example I've ever seen of a service-centered community.

  3. Thanks Jay! Yeah, softy ice cream cones saved my life. Amritsar is great.

Patrick, all Sikh temples are places where anyone can come and find a free place to stay and eat. It is pretty cool! Some of my group members slept there for one night, and the food there was really very good!

  4. You have an awesome camera. I am officially jealous. I really love the close up pictures of the people.

One of my favorite parts of Amritsar was the late night stroll when everyone was sleeping. I loved the man who was so sound asleep he was snoring. How wonderful is it that he felt so at peace? He was at his place of worship and able to just sleep with no worries.
