120 min- attending marathon meeting field facilitator training

60 min- working on field facilitator duties, writing emails, etc to get ready for the marathon meeting

60 min- getting IRB wrapped up

120 min- working on project proposal

30 min- writing this weeks journal

45 min- reading through and reviewing Overlooking Tibet, a blog

45 min- reading through and reviewing electronic sources on Everyday Exile, an NGO looking to spread stories through words and photographs to raise Tibetan awareness.

Total: 660 minutes

45 min- reading and reviewing electronic source, a blog on the Tibetan Plateau
60 min- reading through and reviewing blog, "My Thoughts and Feelings in Dharamsala."  Looking at other sources to link to.
30 min- reviewing the article on culture shock that the journal is based on
120 min- drafting and revising IRB and final project proposal
30 min- meeting with honors coordinator to figure out how to turn this project into my final honors thesis

120- Attending a PowerPoint presentation from a guy who just got back from India last week with Hailey

60 min- Meeting with Professor Bennion and getting my last coarse contract, ENGL 317R Creative Nonfiction.

60 min- Attending a safety and security meeting for facilitators

60 min- Eating at the India Palace and talking with some people who went on the Dharamsala field study last year

90 min- Revising my IRB draft

10 min- Setting up a class visit

30 min- browsing through the Tibetan book of the dead and seeing what could interest me in the future

30 min- brain storming what exactly I will be doing day by day in the field.  Wondering if I should like up with another organization like Emily did, or if stories will be easy to find?

60 min- looking through other field study blogs and making comments

 60 min- reading Emily Bell's papers in the database and writing a lit review on them

January 19, 2011: Time Log

Let's say... since our first field facilitator class meeting...

30 min- Exploring different library sources looking for keywords containing India, Tibet, and Storytelling.  So far oral tradition brings up more options, but there is still a weeding process that I need to do more of to get more sources.

400 min- Starting and finishing the book Nine Lives by William Dalrymple.  It gave me a great introduction to India, to Dharamsala, and the style inspired me to take my project in a bit of a different direction.

120 min- Tibetan language class, going over the alphabet and learning how to create words from there

50 min- Attending field facilitator class January 12th, 2011

50 min- Attending the prep class January 14th, 2011

120 min- Attending yoga and meditation class at the Hare Krishna temple (sorry Ashley, I know how you feel about that, but it was a cool experience all the same!)

30 min- Finding more sources in the library

30 min- Creating this blog

30 min- Writing posts on my project development and on my beginning lit review

50 min- Attending Paul Adam's lecture about improving photography while abroad

Total: 910 minutes!
